The hidden gems in the Hubbards/Aspotogan Area are the studios of the wonderful artists and artisans who live and work here. With a few exceptions these studios are not easily found and you will have to do a little exploring to find them. Believe me, it will be worth the effort.
Start your exploration at the Pottery Studio of Mieke Martin at the Century House Bed and Breakfast. Mieke is a wonderful potter with an international reputation. In addition to the pottery studio allow some time to enjoy David Martin's beautiful gardens that surround the bed and breakfast. Each year Meike and David host a great fund-raiser for breast cancer in their garden - Blueberry Shortcake in an Artful Garden is a "don't miss" event for local and visiting art lovers.
When you are ready to continue your exploration ask Mieke or David for some suggestions for where to go next. They will have lots of great ideas for you. This video is of the Aspotogan Arts and Crafts Association's annual show held at the Blandford Community Centre the holiday weekend in May each year. It is a "don't miss" if you are in the area then.
