As you leave Hackett's Cove on route 333 heading west you enter the Tantallon Area of our region. As you drive through this area you will be encircling St Margaret's Bay, one of the world's greatest sailing bays. Here you will find the villages of Glen Margaret, Seabright, French Village, Glen Haven, Tantallon, Upper Tantallon. In Upper Tantallon you have several choices to explore. Turning west on route 3 takes you to The Head of St Margaret's Bay, Boutilier's Point, Ingramport and Black Point. If you turn east in Upper Tantallon Route 3 takes you through the community of Hubley to Timberlea. Or you can turn left on Route 213 towards Hammonds Plains to access Glen Arbour Golf course.
While St Margaret's Bay is the focus for many activities this is a great location to explore some of our best hiking trails. Whether you are a hiker, walker, runner or prefer to bike our trails there is enough variety to keep you entertained for days. The St Margaret's Bay Trail connects to other trails from Halifax to Lunenburg allowing you to hike or bike the entire Bluenose Coast if you wish.
Because of the large open yet protected expanse of ocean that St Margaret's Bay offers, along with the consistent arrival of those welcome afternoon breezes, it is a real playground for sailors no matter how small or large your boat or what your skill level is.
