From our docks you can learn to sail, race, cruise, sail, motor or kayak around the bay. A vibrant and welcoming club of friendly folks and fun year-round events on and off the water, we're only 30 minutes from Halifax.

Our Story

The rich history of St. Margaret Sailing Club

During the winter of 1956, Dr. Arthur Murray met with a group of friends and neighbours to discuss their desire to restore tranquillity to St. Margaret’s Bay where they enjoyed their summers. They chose to introduce sailing to the Bay in an effort to reduce the noise of outboard motors as youngsters raced each other throughout the Bay.

MISSION
SMSC will provide infrastructure and high-quality instruction, competition, leisurely sailing and other boating and water-based activities to members. Our land-based social activities build community and camaraderie that increase our ability to enjoy the Bay.
